Human Appeal International in Ajman, HAI, has accomplished a fresh water project that works by solar-power, in the village of Kwaya, in the Zinder region of Niger, costing AED282,000, which will benefit approximately 1,000 people, mostly women, children, the elderly and the disabled.
A Zinder region official honoured the Human Appeal International authority during the opening of the new station, praising the outstanding role played by the UAE in the creation of sustainable development projects and their impact on promoting the stability of the people and facilitating their lives, as he expressed his gratitude to the UAE, its leadership and its people on these important projects.
Abdullah Al Awadi, Assistant HAI Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, said in a statement on the occasion, that "water is the most important source of human life, in which make this the most significant project launched by HAI". He also praised the authority's efforts in making sure that the project complies with sustainability criteria by using a solar-powered work-station and also by establishing a local distribution station to prevent crowding and easy access to the water.
The majority of the people of Kwaya village are living below the poverty line as most of the heads of households have limited income and the region suffers from the lack of drinking water, therefore, the project is crucial as it has contributed to providing access to water for the village citizens, their livestock and agriculture.
