Egypt is in the process of implementing a project to use solar energy in the industrial sector, said Trade and Industry Minister Tareq Qabil Saturday.
Worth some 6.5 million dollars, the project should be implemented within the coming five years in cooperation with the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Qabil said.
He was speaking in a meeting with UNIDO representatives to discuss a roadmap of the project.
Qabil said his Ministry is keen on rationalizing the use of energy resources in the industrial sector.
He also talked about diversifying energy resources and making them more environment-friendly.
The project is also meant to enhance the local industrialization of new and renewable energy technologies, the minister added.
