Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tareq el Molla and Algerian Energy Minister Saleh Khebri stressed the importance of the 2nd Jordan International Energy Summit (JIES2), which kicked off earlier here, in promoting cooperation ties between Egypt, Algeria and Jordan.
On the sidelines of the summit, Molla expected that Jordan would have the opportunity to benefit from new natural gas discoveries in the Mediterranean Sea by 2021 as Egypt will then be able to export natural gas.
Jordanian Egyptian FAJR for Natural Gas Transmission and Supply Company is currently expanding its activities in Jordan through supplying the natural gas surplus to industries and power stations, Molla said.
For his part, the Algerian minister said his country signed a deal with Jordan today to set cooperation frameworks in the energy field and under which Algeria will supply Jordan with liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas by the end of 2017.
Algeria and Jordan are expected to sign similar agreements for the exploration of materials in Jordan, Khebri said.
