Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Ali Mirza received Economic Development Board (EDB) Executive Chairman Khalid Amr Al Rumaihi in the presence of officials from both sides to study the future plan for joint work between the Sustainable Energy Unit and all the relevant governmental directorates.
The minister explained the background of the setting up of the unit and what led to its establishment.
The Sustainable Energy Unit team gave a presentation on the unit’s objectives, plans, regulations and legislations and the role of the Economic Development Board in its organizational structure.
The unit was established in November 2014 jointly by the Government of Bahrain represented by the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It aims to encourage investment in renewable energy and push forward the steps to enhance its use and increase efficiency of energy use in Bahrain.
