Dubai Electricity and Water Authority staff are distributing Iftar meals to drivers on the roads and at traffic intersections before Maghrib prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.
The gesture is in implementation to the directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to mark 19 June as Zayed Humanitarian Work Day in memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
DEWA is working in cooperation with the Al Ihsan Charity Association for the 5th Ramadan Aman safety campaign, with the theme ‘Together during Ramadan without accidents.’ The initiative is held in collaboration with police from different Emirates and Al Ihsan. The campaign promotes the safety of people who are fasting during Ramadan, especially when they drive their cars before Iftar.
"DEWA supports Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which has become a significant part of the UAE’s history. This reflects our gratitude to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his efforts to establish humanitarianism and a culture of philanthropy within the UAE," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
Al Tayer noted that the initiatives to encourage a culture of philanthropy that were launched by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan are sustained by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates, and the people of the UAE.
