Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has received Arun Kumar, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and Director-General of the US and Foreign Commercial Service, and Vinay Vijay Singh, Senior Advisor for Global Markets, at his office to discuss trade and economic relations.
The meeting is one of a series of ongoing diplomatic missions to DEWA and was attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, and Ahmed Abdullah, Senior Manager of External Communications at DEWA.
Al Tayer welcomed the delegation and discussed DEWA’s projects and continuous development in providing services. He highlighted DEWA’s strategies, projects, and initiatives based on the vision of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 7% of Dubai’s energy from clean energy sources by 2020. It will increase this target to 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050.
Al Tayer also discussed some of DEWA’s biggest projects, such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park, the Hassyan clean coal power plant, the Smart Grids project, and DEWA’s three smart initiatives to achieve the Smart Dubai Initiative, in addition to some of DEWA’s most important development projects and strategic initiatives.
He highlighted DEWA’s adoption of the best international practices for the rational use of resources, and preserving them to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021, to transform Dubai into an international hub for trade, finance, tourism, and green economy. The delegation from the US expressed their interest in DEWA’s projects, with a focus on energy projects.
The delegation expressed their interest in exchanging skills, information, and techniques to achieve sustainable growth in the Emirate.
