The Cabinet, under Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, initially approved on Thursday a location for a solar power generation station in Aswan's Kom Ombo.
The project will be implemented by Benchmark Power International (BPI) for the interest of the Electricity Ministry's New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA).
Meanwhile, a deadline was extended for a South Sinai tourism transport company to use a land plot earlier allocated by the government to the company to help it set up a parking area and housing units for its employees.
The land had been named for the transport company five years ago, but the company failed to develop it.
