The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy is organising the Emirates Energy Award to highlight the best practices in energy efficiency and alternative energy technologies for a sustainable future. Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the award is considered to be one of the most important initiatives of the Supreme Council of Energy to make sustainable development a reality and raise awareness about the best uses of energy among employees, managers and the general public. “The availability of a world-class electricity and water grid is crucial to Dubai’s success as a global hub for trade, business and tourism. The growth in demand and its implications on the economy and the environment have spurred us to take the necessary steps to consistently improve demand management and conservation efforts,” Mohammad Saeed Al Tayer, vice chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and president of the Emirates Energy Award, said. Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum is the honorary president of the Emirates Energy Award. The award recognises achievements by the private and public sectors in six categories: The gold and silver awards for energy conservation in the private and public sectors, the gold and silver awards for large-scale energy projects, the gold and silver awards for small energy projects and the gold and silver awards for education and research, in addition to a special award for excellence.
