A shallow undersea quake of 5.6 magnitude jolted Papua province of Indonesia on Saturday but there was no potential for tsunami, the meteorology and geophysics agency said.
The quake struck at 08 : 20 a.m. Jakarta time (0120 GMT) with epicenter at 65 km northwest of Jayapura of the province and with the depth at 10 km under sea bed, an official from the the agency told Xinhua by phone.
Indonesia is prone to quake as it lies on a vulnerable quake-hit zone so called "the Pacific Ring of Fire."
