A large mountain lion was captured and tranquilized as it wandered in a residential neighborhood of Glendale, Calif., police said. The first sighting of the animal, which California Fish and Wildlife wardens said was a fully grown, 120-pound male, came Thursday afternoon near a high school, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles said, adding it took three tranquillizer darts to bring it down. Officials loaded the mountain lion into the back of a pickup truck and said it would be tagged after a review of its health, then returned to the wild. Wildlife officials said it was the first mountain lion sighting in a populated area of Southern California this year, as the animals search for food with little regard to their surroundings, and expect more as summer approaches.
