CEO of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina met here the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries (LDC), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Gyan Chandra Acharya, on the sidelines of the Climate Summit, held here recently.
Bin Daina conveyed to the UN official greetings from HM the King's Personal Representative and the SCE President Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad.
He discussed with him ways to enhance the kingdom's cooperation with SIDS countries.
He lauded the efforts of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the relevant UN officials in organising the Climate Summit, reiterating Bahrain's commitment to the goals of the SIDS group and desire to activate its role.
He expressed Bahrain's to join similar groups such as the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS).
Gyan Chandra Acharya praised the kingdom's desire to join AOSIS, and lauded its efforts to achieve the goals of SIDS.
