Light to moderate rain hit part of the UAE on Wednesday, giving respite to the people experiencing unusually hot conditions for this time of the year. Continuing effects of an unstable weather system are expected on Thursday with light north-westerly winds, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS). The western seafront turned rough offshore yesterday with 1.8 to 2.4 metre-high waves. Rain started in the western region of Abu Dhabi. Light to moderate showers were later reported in Abu Dhabi at around midday and also at Umm Al Quwain, Dalma Island, Ser Bounar, Al Ghoafat, Sila, Ruwais, and some parts of Dubai. The NCMS said the sea will continue to be rough at least for the next couple of days. The conditions would be partly cloudy in general. Light scattered rain is likely in some areas this morning and day-time temperatures will fall slightly. The centre has warned people to be cautious in the windy, dusty, and rainy conditions when driving in the western region and open areas in other emirates.
