The residents of Abyan, Yemen will have a warmer and safer winter due to power generators recently provided by the UAE.
The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) recently completed the second delivery of power generators to the governorate of Abyan, as part of the UAE’s relief and development assistance in Yemen.
Ahmed Deha, Director-General of the General Electricity Authority in Abyan, said the new units would add 4 MW of power, which would raise the area’s total generating capacity to 17.5 MW.
''The installed generating capacity will meet 90 percent of the demand for electricity in Abyan during the winter,'' he added.
He noted that sustained supplies of electricity would help to ease the suffering of the population caused by repeated power outages.
