The Minister of Water Resources and Electricity , the Chairman of the Ministerial Council of the states of the Nile Basin states iniative , Monday , has anagurated the activities of the 4 th Forum of the Nile Basin development in the Kenyian capital Nairobi, during 6-7 of current October with the participation of the World Bank for facing the challenges for the building of a countinous cooperation between the states of the Nile Basin.
The minister indicated in his address to the opening of the forum the commitment of the ministerial council to the iniative to continue the capacity building in the states of the Nile Basin, asserting the Sudan's decision on the progress of cooperation with basin states and continue talks with Egypt to return to the Nile Basin iniative.
The representive of the World Bank has affirmed the bank's desire to support the Nile Basin states to reduce poverty and develop the infrastructure to make the most benefit of the water resources.
It is worth noting that a number of Sudanese experts from the ministry and others working in the Technical Regional office of the East Nile Basin states (Intro) are taking part in the forum by presenting papers , while politicians who are responsible for the water in the Nile Basin states, regional and international experts; non-governmental actors, scientists, academics and researchers participate in the forum to discuss and exchange knowledge and expertise and build a common understanding on the key issues in the area of the Nile Basin and how to strengthen the cooperation between the Nile Basin countries.
