Sudan will participate this month in the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). The Sudanese Director of the National Forest Dr. Abdelazim Mirghani said that the committee will discuss several issues, notably the condition of forests all over the world and the results of Rio meetings in Brazil on sustainable administration. Furthermore, there will be a discussion on the environmental policy, the role of forests in the development of the countryside, and the major results of the strategic evaluation by the member states. Abdelazim Mirghani said in a statement to Arabstoday that the meeting also represents an opportunity to discuss FAO projects in Sudan. He revealed that the cooperation with FAO is old and includes several projects such as sustainable forest management and monitoring national inventory of forest resources. Moreover, Sudan works in cooperation with FAO in raising the environmental awareness gradually through paying attention and looking after forests and forest work.
