As part of its public awareness campaign on the occasion of the Tree Week this year launched in cooperation with schools in the Capital Governorate under the slogan: (Yes, towards a greener and cleaner environment); Manama Municipality organized last Monday (4 March 2013) in cooperation with the Halima Al-Saadiya School for Girls, a sensitizing event comprising an series of programs and activities on the subject of "trees" and their considerable importance for humankind and the environment. The event was launched under the kind auspices of director general of Manama Municipality, engineer Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and in the presence of school headmistress Sohair Abdul-Razzaq, representative of the 7th Constituency Fadil Isa, Council member Adnan Al-Nuaimi, directors and heads of sections in the Municipality. Engineer Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa explained that the Municipality relied upon its strategic plan in designing its campaign for the purpose of increasing green patches and boosting environmental cleanness on the one hand and the elements and components of gardens, the beaches and public facilities in addition to boosting public awareness about cleanliness in the Capital. Towards the conclusion of the ceremony, the Director of Manama Municipality honored students who won cultural contests and praised the school management and students for their efforts and fruitful cooperation with Manama Municipality.(IY)
