Kuwait and the United National Development Programme (UNDP) held here Thursday a tree planting event at the UN House to highlight environment awareness and cooperation between the two sides.
Speaking at the event, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Khaled Suleiman Al-Jarallah affirmed that today's celebration stemmed from Kuwait's continuous effort to protect the environment and also was reflective of Kuwait's status as a humanitarian center.
He thanked the UN for this initiative, noting that the international organization was always on the forefront regarding environmental issues.
On his part, UN Resident Coordinator and United National Development Programme (UNDP) Representative Dr. Mubashar Sheikh said that the UN was very grateful for the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry cooperation, saying that the trees planting ceremony will honor the strong bilateral ties between Kuwait and the UN.
The UN official affirmed that many planting events will be held in the future as part of the Green UN House Strategy, an environmental promotion initiative.
