The Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals Company (Sidpec) and the Egyptian Company For Refrigeration By Natural Gas (Gas Cool) on Tuesday signed a contract to build the first solar power station in Alexandria.
The move comes in light of the petroleum sector policy to maximize the benefit from the renewable energy in power generation.
Sidpec Chairman Ahmed Helmy said the new station is the first of 37 stations that aim to maximize the benefit of using solar energy to generate electricity.
For his part, Gas Cool Chairman Alaa Hegazy said the new station would have a capacity of 60 KW.
