Minister of Environment Khaled Fahmy said the new waste agency, which was approved by the prime minister, would be responsible for outlining strategies for treatment of all kinds of wastes whether solid, medical or agriculture.
In statements to MENA, Fahmy said the new agency will be an organizational body similar to the Egyptian Authority for Electricity and the Sanitary Drainage Body.
The new agency will outline strategies for treatment of all kinds of wastes through presenting developed and sustainable services to meet the current and future challenges in this regard. The agency will also sponsor the the various bodies involved in handling of wastes and determine their responsibilities.
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail has recently issued a decision to form the new waste agency and to be affiliated to the Environment Ministry with branches in all Egyptian governorates.
