Egypt and South Sudan are preparing for an international conference to be held in Cairo soon to raise funds for the establishment of the multi-purpose Wau dam in South Sudan.
Several donor sides and international funding institutions will be invited to the event to finance the dam project.
A high-level delegation of technical experts from the South Sudanese water resources, finance and environment ministries is visiting Cairo for two weeks to discuss with Egyptian experts the latest developments regarding the dam’s economic and technical studies.
The dam is expected to fulfill the need for clean drinking water to 500,000 South Sudanese nationals, irrigate 40,000 feddans, store two billion cubic meters of water and provide hydroelectricity.
