The Dubai Municipality (DM) has launched fog and meteorological stations in 14 locations across Dubai which will help improve safety of on road and in sea. The stations will provide information on density of fog in Dubai and across the region and this data would be provided in real time to Dubai Police and Coastal Guards. "The information will be used by government departments, the first one being Dubai Police and Coastal Guards. It will help them tae appropriate action in case of low visibility and fog and warn the drivers about fog conditions so as to prevent road accidents," MohammAd Mashroom, Director of Dubai Municipality Survey Department, told Gulf News. Low visibility due to fog has been one of the main reasons of several road accidents across the emirate fog warning systems would contribute to preventing these.
