In a first of its kind initiative, the waste management department of the Dubai Municipality is distributing waste bins to individual households in the emirate. The "My City… My Environment" community initiative launched on Tuesday is aimed at segregating waste from the source. Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality, said that this initiative is a community based service, providing two types of waste bins for each house in Mazhar 1, Mazhar 2 and Nadd Al Hamr areas in Dubai as an experimental stage of the project for one year. Emdad, Averda and Dulsco are to distribute the waste bins and collect the waste from the residences directly on daily basis.
