In compliance with the wise vision of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to adopt excellence as a lifestyle and governmental culture, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has launched its ‘Excellence Days’ initiative to highlight its best practices.
This supports DEWA’s commitment to motivating staff to actively participate in establishing excellence, creativity, and innovation as daily practices. DEWA has also launched the hashtag ‘#DEWA_Excellence,’ in an effort to instill a culture of excellence and innovation by sharing photos and videos about the best local and international practices.
The initiative's activities took place at DEWA’s main office, its customer centres in Al Quoz, its Sustainable Building, and in Warsan and Jebel Ali, in addition to its ‘Reading is Positive Energy’ tent at Zabeel Park.
The event included a presentation to introduce the initiative and its daily programme, as well as an interactive activity under the theme, ‘Test Your Information’. Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Dr. Rami Gharaibeh, Mutaz Alzayadat, Majd Abbasi, and Ahmad Al Bedwawi, provided presentations at DEWA’s participating centres.
The participants at the Dubai Government Excellence Programme 2016, Maryam bin Salmin, Islam AbuHamdah, Hamad Jassim Rajab, Raad Nassar, and Matar Al Mehairi, shared their success stories.
Maryam Salmin, Deputy Manager of Transmission Equipment Asset Management at DEWA, received the 'Distinguished Employee in Technical and Engineering' at the Dubai Government Excellence Awards 2016.
DEWA received the Creative Idea Award at the Dubai Awards for Excellence in Government, 2016 for its Intelligent Fire System Separation from Low Voltage. The idea team was chaired by Matar Suhail Salem Al Mehairi, VP of Distribution Asset Management at DEWA and included Islam Fakhri Mohammed AbuHamda, Assistant Manager of Asset Management, Workshops and Equipment, Usama Omar Mohamed Radwan, First Network Maintenance Engineer, Low Voltage, and Awad Mahmoud Ibrahim AlJawawdeh, Deputy Manager of the Distribution Workshop.
"DEWA will continue its journey towards excellence and continuous achievements. Each time that we reach a summit, we look ahead to the next one, as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid told us. During Excellence Day, we highlighted DEWA’s efforts to motivate excellence among DEWA’s employees, to whom we give high priority as they are the backbone of DEWA’s success. We are inspired by the words of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, who once observed, ‘We look forward to excellence as a challenge rather than an achievement. Achievement is what we attain for the future of our people, while the march of excellence continues and does not stop at any limits or borders'," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
