The State Ministry for Environment Affairs, in cooperation with Damascus Governorate, launched a campaign titled “Together We Protect the Environment.”
The campaign, which was launched on Monday January 23 and which will conclude on the 26th, includes forestation and cleaning campaigns, exhibitions for art, handicrafts, recycling, photography, theatrical performances, and screenings of movies and documentaries.
State Minister for Environment Affairs Nazira Serkis said that the campaign’s titles expresses partnership with all state establishments, private organizations, civil societies, and local groups in protecting the environment via raising awareness and carrying out various activities to help protect the environment.
Head of Damascus Governorate Council Adel al-Ulabi said the governorate is taking part in developing environmental awareness, while head of Damascus Environment Department Wadi’a Jeha said the campaign will involve lectures on desertification, monitoring climate shifts, the environmental impact of traffic congestion, and the role of individuals in protecting the environment.
