Ministry of Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs has signed a cooperation agreement with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization "FAO" on improve the local livestock production efficiency.
Municipalities' Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resource, Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa, said the agreement aims to reinforce bilateral cooperation, underlining Bahrain's government's interest in providing local livestock productions, at the same time reducing imports of the same.
He noted providing training session for livestock breeders willing to be familiarized with the latest technologies in the field of livestock genetic improvement. The training sessions will also assist in improving the capacities of veterinary cadres in the field of artificial insemination and genetic hybridization. In addition, the Hemela In Vitro Fertilisation Laboratory will be rehabilitated by equipping it with advanced medical devices.
