The Information Affairs Authority (IAA) has swooped the first Arab prize for best environmental programme. The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) awarded the prize to "Al-Areen Wildlife Park and Reserve" programme, on the sidelines of the 90th ASBU executive board meeting and 33rd annual meeting. News Director Abdulla Khalid received the award in a prize-distribution ceremony hosted at the ASBU Headquarters in Tunis. Oman, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Jordan and Tunisia were also in the fray vying for the award, which was launched in a bid to enhance Arab citizens' environmental awareness. Bahraini Hend Jamsheer has also won the second prize for best Arab news coordinator, jointly with Egyptian TV coordinator. The coveted award was presented to IAA technical affairs director-general Abdulla Al-Balooshi.
