The army's unified command for East Suez Canal for counter-terrorism and development has organized, in cooperation with the ministry of youth and sports, a ceremony to launch an initiative for planting 2.5 million olive trees in Sinai.
The plan set is upon directives Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the need to plant seeds of reconstruction and land reclamation in remote areas and start work in development projects there, said the army in a statement.
The initiative will trigger several projects of agriculture and land reclamation to attract investors in Sinai.
A total of 26,000 feddans will be cultivated with olive trees to serve the industry based on this agriculture, a step that will open new horizons for Egyptian agricultural exports, said the statement.
Representatives of several concerned ministries and NGOs, participating in the initiative, attended the ceremony, it noted.
