Director of the Agriculture Ministry’s Forestry Department Mohammad Sharman on Monday said there was a need to put an end to the recent series of forest fires set by arsonists. Sharman urged concerned authorities to pay close attention to this problem to prevent such incidents from happening. He said two forest fires erupted on Monday in Jerash and Ajloun, burning around 80 and 150 trees, respectively. Also in Zarqa, fire ate up around 50 shops for used clothes and another five adjacent grocery stores, along the railway track opposite the Zarqa Refugee Camp. Firefighters managed to put out the blaze, which started at dawn at around 4:40am, at 8:00am on Monday, according to Zarqa Civil Defence Department Director Col. Waleed Saoub.
