President Abdel Fattah El Sisi signed on Thursday the "Nile Document" to protect the Nile river.
Under this document, President Sisi will join the "Nile Guards" Committee to protect the river from any infringements and pollution.
Presidential Spokesman Alaa Yousef said the president was keen to launch this campaign at the grassroots level to protect the only lifeblood of the Egyptians, namely the Nile.
He added that this campaign targets raising awareness among Egyptians of the importance of protecting the Nile river.
