Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation announced Thursday that 2,362 encroachments were removed from the banks of the River Nile out of a total of 50,399 ones along the water way since January 5.
This comes as a part of a national campaign to rescue the Nile launched by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hossam Moghazi early in January.
As many as 38 violations were removed over the past 24 hours in Cairo, Giza, Behiera, Menoufia, Kafr el Shiekh, and Aswan, a statement of the ministry said.
