Minister of Fishing and Fishery Resources Sid Ahmed Ferroukhi underlined Thursday in El Tarf that a deadline of five (05) years has been set, as part of the 2020 Aquapeche Plan (aquaculture programme), to double fishery production.
Speaking in a seminar on the operational plan Aquapeche 2020, marked by the participation of professionals (ship-owners, fishermen, fish farmers, coral fishers and association) from the provinces of Annaba, Jijel, Setif, Guelma and Skikda, the minister underlined that this plan aimed at “defining the new priorities, adapting and organizing them in accordance with a prospective and realistic approach, based on a participatory approach.”
Ferroukhi particularly insisted on “the mechanisms to be implemented to take up this challenge, by relying on our own abilities to protect the resource and allow its development.”
Part of the government’s action plan for the period 2015-2019, this project focuses on four main priority intervention areas, he said.
