Minister of Environment Khaled Fahmy said 2015 will witness the accomplishment of several environmental projects especially regarding the use of coal in the cement factories and the safe discharge of cancerous pesticides in Adabiya harbor.
In statements to MENA on Wednesday, Fahmy said the ministry will start with the onset of 2015 the application of strict regulations to the use of coal in the cement industry. The plan is waiting the approval of the prime minister to be put into effect immediately.
He also said that three cement companies have started the experimental operation with the use of coal, namely the Arab Company for Cement, Suez Cement Company and Lafarge Company.
He asserted that the health of Egyptians is a red line that should not be crossed and that all necessary measures have been taken as regards the use of coal.
