Inspired from the writings of Pliny the Younger, T House by studio Natalie Dionne Architecture is a villa said to “stimulate the imagination and compel us to contemplate one’s place in the surrounding landscape.” With a privileged location in a forest clearing up on a hillside, in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, the project offers a genuine retreat for a busy urban Montreal family. T House is composed of two partially divided buildings: “the first volume, two-storey and roughly cubic in shape is clad with wood siding. The second, a single-story 24meter long rectangle, embedded in the ground at one end and cantilevered over the hill at the other end is wrapped in composite cement panels“. In between, inhabitants enjoy a space of transition, encapsulated in glass in order to frame the spectacular surrounding views. Structurally, the residence displays three distinct zones, which form the letter “T”, according to the architecture plans: the living room, the guest rooms and the kitchen with master bedroom upstairs.
