Marriott’s luxury hotel brand, Ritz-Carlton, has opened its first property in Chengdu, the capital of southwest China’s Sichuan province. Located in a 41-storey high-rise building, towering above city’s central Tianfu Square, the 353-room property will offer the highest hotel rooms in the city. Guests booking one of the 113 Ritz-Carlton Club rooms or 55 suites will also be offered dedicated concierge services, private check-in and use of the club lounge, which offers panoramic views of Chengdu. “We are delighted to be opening our first hotel in Chengdu, an important gateway city in one of the world’s fastest growing travel destinations in southwest China,” said Herve Humler, Ritz-Carlton’s president & chief operations officer. “The city has true international appeal, attracting visitors from all over the world for business or pleasure. We are delighted to play our part in helping put this vibrant destination on the map for discerning luxury travellers.” Facilities at the hotel include a spa with 10 treatment rooms and two heated jade stone beds, a beauty salon, fitness centre and a 25-metre indoor swimming pool with an underwater music system. There are also four F&B outlets, including the Li Xuan Chinese restaurant and an international restaurant with five open kitchens, plus a lounge with outdoor terraces. For the corporate and event markets, the Ritz-Carlton Chengdu also offers 1,700m² of meeting space spread across two luxury ballrooms and seven meeting rooms. It becomes the ninth Ritz-Carlton in China, following existing properties in mainland China, following existing hotels in Beijing (2), Guangzhou, Sanya, Shanghai (2), Shenzhen and Tianjin.
