Iconic Swiss resort St Moritz is to play host to the world's best skiers in five years when the 2017 FIS World Championships rolls into town. The resort, twice the host of the Winter Olympic Games, beat off competition from Are in Sweden and Italy's Cortina d'Ampezzo. St Moritz, home of the Cresta Run, last hosted the biennial competition in 2003. Athletes competing in the Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard World Championships will pull on their ski wear in Sierra Nevada, Spain, while Kulm in Austria was awarded the Ski Flying World Championships. Lahti in Finland will stage the Nordic World Championships. Meanwhile, the calendar for the 2012/13 FIS Ski World Cup has been confirmed, with just under five months until the action kicks off on Solden's glacier in late October.
