British perfume house Penhaligon’s is launching Vaara this month, a new Eau de Parfum inspired by the Royal House of Marwar-Jodphur in Rajasthan. The scent came about after His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh II desired a scent to commemorate the birth of his granddaughter, Vaara. Created by Master Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, the fragrance begins head notes of quince, rosewater, carrot seed, coriander seed and saffron; while heart notes include: Moroccan rose absolute, Bulgarian rose oil, freesia, Indian magnolia, peony and iris, and base notes comprise honey, white musk, cedarwood, sandalwood, benzoin resin and tonka bean. Vaara will launch in Penhaligon’s boutiques and stockists on the UK on 8 July, and will also be available in India at the Umaid Bhawan Palace Collection Shop. The Eau de Parfum is priced £85 for 50ml and £120 for 100ml.
