British band Coldplay serenaded a UAE crowd of over 25,000 fans in their concert at Du Arena at Yas Island and ushered the New Year in with a message of hope.
Chris Martin and his four-member band crooned crowd favorites such as “Yellow,” “Head Full of Dreams” (from their new album and the name of the tour), “Clocks” and “A Sky Full of Stars”.
Frontman Martin was in his element and was cheered on by the crowd as he paid tribute to the late George Michael.
“We are very grateful that you are here,” Martin said in the introduction. “We have been traveling and meeting amazing people from all around the world and we couldn’t ask for a better place to finish.
“I want us to use this song and send it out as good vibes around the world. Send it to Yemen and Syria, or to your cousin or your sister — basically whoever needs that positive, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, vibe,” Martin said as he performed “Everglow” on the piano.
