A still from the title track of Om Shanti Om.
Filmmaker Farah Khan, whose 2007 film Om Shanti Om will be screened at the 37th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), said that she wanted Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu to feature in the title song of the film.
Om Shanti Om is special for Farah as she was pregnant while filming it.
"The whole industry featured in the title song of the film. Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan wanted to see Dharmendraji dance. We captured that impromptu moment when all of them were dancing," Farah told PTI.
"We wanted many stars from the industry such as Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan. Things did not work out. Shah Rukh Khan had told me that he will get Dilip Kumar sahab and Saira Banuji. It's been eight years and Shah Rukh is yet to get them," added Farah.
The film's title song featured several Bollywood celebrities including Salman, Saif, Karisma Kapoor, Tabu, Rekha, Juhi Chawla, Malaika Arora Khan, Urmila Matondkar and Arbaaz Khan.
"It would not have been possible to get all of them for a song at this time. Also, the song should go with the subject and the plot of the film, otherwise it looks like a gimmick," said Farah.
Om Shanti Om marked Deepika Padukone's debut in Bollywood. It also featured Arjun Rampal, Shreyas Talpade and Kirron Kher, apart from Shah Rukh.
