Egyptian artist Ragaa El Gedawi has told Arabstoday: “I’m waiting for the broadcast of the show 'Karioka' which is a biography of my maternal aunt Taheya Karioka...I do not know exactly how the writer, Fathi al-Gindi, wrote about Karioka’s life without referring to her family.” “No one knows the details of Karioka’s personal life other than her family. I hope there is no distortion so I do not get angry. She was a like a mother to me,” Gedawy said. As for her work, Gedawi said she was acting in two shows that will be displayed next month. One of them is “Sharbat Louz” (Almond Sherbet) with the actress Yousra, while she plays a totally different character in “Ibn al-Nizam” (Regime’s Son), with the actor Hani Ramzi. Geddawy added that she was a guest star in another series, “Al-Horoub” (The Escape), which stars Karim Abdel Aziz. She said she thinks the character will raise a lot of controversy as she is against rebels in the role.
