Production has begun in Toronto on the second season of the drama series "Alphas," Syfy announced. Starring David Strathairn, Malik Yoba, Warren Christie, Azita Ghanizada, Ryan Cartwright and Laura Mennell, the 13-episode sophomore season of the show is to premiere in July, the network said Friday. Joining the cast this season will be Erin Way from "Detroit 187" and "Private Practice." "Alphas" follows "a clandestine group of ordinary people whose unique neurological condition equips them with extraordinary mental and physical abilities," a synopsis said. "This unlikely team takes on cases the CIA, FBI and Pentagon are unwilling or unable to solve."
