Actresses Cloris Leachman and Pia Zadora are to trade lives for a week on the reality show Wife Swap, ABC announced.
Nature lover Leachman, 89, is an Academy Award- and nine-time Emmy Award-winning actress who lives in the quiet community of Topanga Canyon, Calif., with her daughter Dinah, Dinah's husband Tom and their daughter Hallelujah. Dinah and Tom are vegetarians who own a shop where they make and sell artisan candles. Leachman married writer-director George Englund in 1953 and divorced him 1979. She never married again.
Zadora, 62, is a Golden Globe Award-winning actress and singer who lives in Las Vegas with her husband Michael and Jordan, her son from a previous marriage. Zadora met her current spouse when he was a police officer handling her case regarding a stalker. She prefers staying inside with the window blinds drawn, air conditioning on high and a fire always crackling. Zadora is not a fan of the outdoors and calls herself a "germaphobe," regularly venturing out in protective hats, gloves and masks. She has a steady gig performing at Piero's on the Vegas Strip where Michael and Jordan regularly enjoy lavish steak dinners.
"When it's time for the swap, Cloris and Pia arrive at their new homes and are immediately not
happy. With the air conditioning on high, Cloris is cold and wants to let the sunshine in," a press release said. "Pia, not a fan of the outdoors, feels like the home is too open with bugs and 'critters' all over. When the women meet their new families, Cloris learns she is going out for dinner and must wear Pia's protective gear as she steers her motorized scooter outside. Meanwhile, Pia, who is an avid lover of meat, sees that Dinah is cooking a gourmet vegetarian meal for the family. Sitting outside to enjoy dinner, Pia hits a breaking point when a bug is found inside someone's food, having flown in during the cooking process."
The episode is scheduled to air Wednesday on ABC.
