Egyptian actor Mahmoud Qabil has spoken exclusively to Arabstoday about his role in the series “El Bahr Wal Atshana” (The Sea and the Thirsty). "This is the role of a lifetime, and is completely different...this year I was able to breakout of the romantic roles I was accustomed to playing, the last one being in 'Imraa fe Warta' (A Woman in Trouble) with actress Elham Shahen whom we introduced last year.” He continued: "I decided to go beyond the romantic role directors usually put me in, so I payed the character of Khamees as well as I could, with a gamut of emotions. He is a Sheikh in an Islamic group, which required me to change the tone of my voice!"
