Lucasfilm plans to collaborate with television shows The Big Bang Theory and The Goldbergs for special Star Wars Day-themed episodes. Star Wars Day is an unofficial holiday that celebrates the Star Wars films, books and universe. The event takes place every May 4, as "May the 4th" echoes series phrase "May the Force be with you." The Big Bang Theory will recreate the planet Dagobah for its Star Wars Day episode, "The Proton Transmogrification." Dagobah is an Outer Rim planet in the Star Wars universe that serves as a refuge for Yoda during his exile. Comedian Bob Newhart will appear as the character Professor Proton, who acts as a Jedi master and guide to Sheldon (Jim Parsons) in a series of visions. "We realized that this might be an opportunity to mix both stories and come up with something special," showrunner Steve Molaro tells The Hollywood Reporter. "[Lucasfilm is] excited about everything we're doing, and they're going to help us with the special effects... It's an amazing crossover for us," he adds. 1980s-set show The Goldbergs will also team with Lucasfilm for their own special episode to celebrate the holiday. The episode, "A Wrestler Named Goldberg," will follow Adam (Sean Giambrone) and Erica (Hayley Orrantia) as they encounter extreme Star Wars fans in line to see Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi for the first time. The Star Wars Day episode of The Big Bang Theory will air on Thursday, May 1. The Goldbergs will air their episode on Tuesday, May 6.
