US cable network Syfy has announced Graham Greene will join the cast of its upcoming drama series "Defiance." Greene's film credits include "Maverick," "Thunderheart" and "Dances with Wolves," for which he received a supporting actor Oscar nomination. Set in the near future, "Defiance" introduces a completely transformed planet Earth, inhabited by the survivors of a universal war struggling to build a new society. Greene will portray "Rafe McCawley, "a self-made success who owns and operates the largest mine in the territory," a synopsis said. "However, Rafe's status as the richest and most powerful human in the town of Defiance comes with a price, as he struggles to navigate both familial and political alliances in this precariously assembled new world." The cast also includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran and Jaime Murray.
