The Drama League in New York announced Tuesday it plans to honor five-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald at a February gala. The Drama League's 29th Musical Celebration of Broadway is to take place Feb. 11 at the Pierre Hotel. "Audra McDonald, in my view, is the once-in-a-generation performer of our time," Drama League Executive Director Gabriel Shanks said in a statement. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to honor her achievements in film, television, recording, and in the theater." Featuring dozens of stars from film, television and theater, the Musical Celebration of Broadway will feature the performance of songs from McDonald's past productions, including "Carousel," "Ragtime," "The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess," "Marie Christine" and "110 in the Shade."
