Dexter actress Jennifer Carpenter will develop the new drama series, Death Class. The 34-year-old actress has teamed up with producer George Stelzner to adapt the nonfiction book The Death Class: A True Story About Life into a television show. The book was written by Erika Hayasaki, and follows the story of Norma Bowe, a Ph.D and registered nurse who teaches in New Jersey. Bowe teaches a death preparation course at Kean University, and has gained national attention for her exploration of end-of-life issues. She also operates a consulting practice, and uses a variety of techniques to help clients come to terms with the realities of death. "Norma is such a dynamic force," Carpenter says. "Her world is rich and textured, and the results of her work are inexplicably redemptive and life-affirming." "The content of Death Class is such fertile ground for series development," Stelzner adds. The pair are currently looking for a writer to adapt the book for the television series.
