David Tennant and Olivia Colman are to return for a third season of Britain's moody mystery series Broadchurch, ITV announced.
Details regarding other cast members and filming dates will be confirmed at a later date.
"Chris Chibnall knows exactly how to keep viewers guessing and I'm delighted that he is going to take the story onto the next stage," ITV's Director of Drama Steve November said in a statement Monday.
"We've been overwhelmed that 9 million people every week have continued to join us on the twists and turns of Broadchurch. This third chapter has been a glint in my eye for a long time and I'm thrilled to be writing these characters once again," added series creator Chibnall.
Season 2 of the drama is to have its U.S. premiere on BBC America March 4. Gracepoint, an Americanized remake of the show starring Tennant and Anna Gunn in Colman's role, aired on FOX last year. It has not been renewed.
