Syfy says it will start shooting its new drama series Dark Matter in Toronto Wednesday.
Created by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, and developed with Prodigy Pictures, the 13 one-hour episodes are based on the graphic novel by Mallozzi and Mullie, which was published by Dark Horse Comics.
The show will star Melissa O'Neil, Marc Bendavid, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr. and Jodelle Ferland, with Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer. It is set to premiere on the cable network this summer.
"In Dark Matter, the crew of a derelict spaceship is awakened from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board," a synopsis said. "Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets."
