Connie Britton has joined the cast of American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson.
Series creator Ryan Murphy revealed the news Monday on Twitter, writing, "Excited to announce my friend Connie Britton will play Faye Resnick in the upcoming FX miniseries The People v. O.J. Simpson."
American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson will examine the trial of former NFL star O.J. Simpson. The football player was accused of murdering ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson in 1994, but was acquitted of the crime in 1995.
Resnick is known for her friendship with Nicole Brown Simpson, and stayed at Simpson's condo days before she was murdered. Resnick contributed to two books on the crime, and subsequently appeared on Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Cuba Gooding, Jr. will star as Simpson, with Sarah Paulson as head prosecutor Marcia Clark. David Schwimmer and John Travolta will portray Simpson defense attorneys Robert Kardashian and Robert Shapiro, respectively.
Britton previously collaborated with Ryan and American Horror Story co-creator Brad Falchuk on American Horror Story: Murder House. Ryan and Falchuk envision the new show as an anthology series, and season one is expected to premiere in 2016.
