Charlie Hunnam has joined the cast of Lost City of Z.
The 34-year-old actor will replace Benedict Cumberbatch, who opted to appear in Marvel film Doctor Strange and other projects. Hunnam will portray real-life British explorer Percy Fawcett opposite Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller.
Lost City of Z is based on the David Grann novel of the same name, with James Gray as director and Brad Pitt as producer. The story follows Fawcett, who disappeared while searching for a mythical Amazonian city in the 1920s.
Hunnam is best known for portraying Jackson "Jax" Teller on FX series Sons of Anarchy. The actor is scheduled for Crimson Peak with Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston, and Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur with Jude Law.
